Should I wash my car today? +
The best way to know is to check your local forecast before you wash. If rain is likely in the next day or so, it's usually worth waiting — a wash followed by rain wastes your time and money. SparkDry checks your local weather and gives you a simple WASH or WAIT answer based on rain probability, humidity, wind, and air quality, so you don't have to guess.
What's the best time of day to wash a car? +
Mid-morning to early afternoon on a mild, dry day is generally ideal. You want the car to dry fully before evening, but you want to avoid intense midday summer sun, which dries soap too fast and leaves water spots. Temperatures roughly between 60–80°F with low rain chance are the sweet spot.
Will it rain after I wash my car? +
That's exactly the problem SparkDry is built to solve. Rather than washing and hoping, you get a forecast-based score that factors in upcoming rain probability and precipitation amount, so you can pick a day where your wash will actually last.
How does the SparkDry wash score work? +
SparkDry looks at your local weather forecast from Open-Meteo — rain probability, precipitation, humidity, and wind — plus air quality factors like pollen and dust. It combines these into a single daily score and a plain WASH, WAIT, or borderline recommendation, with a short reason so you understand why.
Why does pollen matter for washing my car? +
Pollen settles on paint and, during heavy pollen season, a freshly washed car can be coated again within a day. SparkDry factors pollen and dust into the score, so during high-pollen periods it accounts for how quickly your car will get dirty again. For a deeper how-to, see our guide on
how to wash pollen off your car.
How often should I wash my car? +
Most cars do well with a wash every two weeks under normal conditions, but more often if you're near the coast (salt air), in a dusty area, during pollen season, or in winter when road salt builds up. Checking conditions before each wash helps you wash at the right time rather than on a fixed schedule.
Is SparkDry free? +
Yes — the core wash score and forecast are free on the web and as iOS and Android apps. SparkDry Pro adds extended features like the hourly pollen and dust chart.
Does SparkDry store my location? +
Only if you enable wash alerts. When alerts are off, your GPS location is used in real time to fetch weather data and is not stored on our servers. When alerts are on, your coordinates are stored securely on our servers so we can calculate your local Wash Score and send personalized notifications — you can remove this data anytime by disabling alerts. Your wash history is always saved locally on your device only.
Do I need to create an account? +
No account needed for free features. Just open the app, allow location access, and your wash score loads instantly. Pro subscribers sign up via Stripe's secure checkout.
How do push notifications work? +
When you enable alerts, SparkDry checks the weather every morning and sends you a push notification when conditions are good. Free users are alerted when the score hits 60+, Pro users can customize this from 50–95.
Can I cancel my Pro subscription? +
Yes, anytime. On web and Android: open the app → Settings tab → "Manage / Cancel Subscription" to reach Stripe's billing portal. On iPhone or iPad (native app): manage your subscription in Apple ID Settings → Subscriptions, or tap the Manage Subscription link in the app's Settings tab. You keep Pro access until the end of your billing period.
Does my Pro subscription work across web, Android, and iOS? +
Web and Android share the same subscription — both use Stripe, so signing in with the email you used at checkout works on either. iOS uses Apple's separate In-App Purchase system, so iOS subscriptions don't appear on web/Android and vice versa. If you want Pro on both iOS and web, you'd subscribe in both places. We're working on unified cross-platform billing — email
info@wrjventures.com if this affects you.
Is there an iPhone or Android app? +
Yes — SparkDry is a free native app on both stores:
download on the App Store for iPhone & iPad, or
get it on Google Play for Android. You can also use SparkDry on any device at sparkdryapp.com, or install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) to your home screen for push notifications and offline support.
